The temptation is to call the new healthcare legislation TrumpCare. After all, it is a mirror of the ObamaCare moniker, and also ties the legislation to the very unpopular Trump. But Trump is going to fall on the basis of many other things, and this legislation will be unpopular without needing to attach his name to it. We don’t need this to bring him down, and we don’t need him to bring it down.
Instead, we need to use this against the GOP in Congress. This plan came from them, and needs to be securely wrapped around their necks. We need it to flip Congress in 2018 or 2020. If we can flip Congress, we can then get the Democrats to impeach Trump, et al.
If we instead call the plan TrumpCare, the congressional GOP might actually be able to run against him and it, even though they will be the ones who created and passed it. They will say it was his plan all along, and they will paint themselves as the opposition party. And no doubt the weak, fractured, disorganized Democrats will let them.
So please, call it RupubliCare or GOPCare, not TrumpCare.
